Everday Dancing

physical poetry

Everyday DancingThe dance arises from how we play mindfully and aesthetically with spontaneous action. Warm-ups become sketches become compositions. We engineer action in space, feel movement images arise and transform, practice letting go of our expectations of how the dance should look and relax into our body's intelligence.

Today we concentrated on bones and looseness.
Yesterday it was breathing and phrasing.
The ability to sustain your attention through a transition is the antidote to doubt.

A dance is body grammar. Every movement counts. Your everyday dance is a conversation between the inner you and the outer world. As you practice aligning head, heart, and body, you create and sense the composition, not necessarily literal, but meaningful and real. You apply this dance-mind-ability anywhere, anytime.
