'The Hillsboro Story' Theatre Production

This rendition of The Hillsboro Story weaves movement, monologues, dramatic images and music into a cultural detective story that premiered at Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland, Oregon/2010-11 season. Performing with me are the versatile cast of Jennifer Lanier, KB Mercer, and the late Laverne Green, who embodied the soul and spirit of the Marching Mothers. Music by David Ornette Cherry, choreography by Gregg Bielemeier, lighting by Peter West.

We have performed in high school gyms, an old vaudeville theatre, national parks site, history museum, black box theatres, concert halls, and cafeterias. Powerful post-show dialogues with audiences have become Act II of the theatrical experience—provocative, illuminating, and honest.

"…confidently rooted in the strength of its story… a concrete example of what it really means to speak truth to power." ~ Portland Mercury
